Internationalization in the Decibel Design System
Because it was based on IBM’s Carbon design system, Decibel should have been internationalized out of the box.
Instead, errors introduced during the retheming of Carbon to match Acoustic’s branding caused multiple internationalization regressions. Internationalization runs deeper than individual components; even without the regressions, there were problems. It requires a system-wide approach to ensure software is usable by people living across the globe. Acoustic did not have that approach in place. It became my responsibility to change that.
