Accessibility in the Decibel Design System
Because it was based on IBM’s Carbon design system, Decibel should have been accessible out of the box.
Instead, errors introduced during the retheming of Carbon to match Acoustic’s branding caused multiple accessibility regressions. Accessibility runs deeper than individual components, even without the regressions, there were problems. Accessibility requires a system wide approach to ensure software is usable by people with a wide range of abilities. Acoustic did not have that approach in place. It became my responsibility to change that.
